Some Strategy

Some Strategy

If you are a first or second generation member, you likely have some information on the family tree, but there may still be big gaps in your tree that you don't know much about. This is actually a great opportunity to find much of the low hanging fruit that is out there about your direct grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. Using the "Some" Strategy, you can quickly find many details about your ancestors' lives in FamilySearch's vast collection of records. Finding new information about your story is just a click or tap away. You will be finding family to take to the temple in no time!

Who are your Grandparents?

Discovering Grandparents

Discover Your Grandparents

Our primary responsibility is to find and perform temple ordinances for our granparents, great-grandparents, and so on.

This can often be done by simply finding records that link children to parents, such as family bibles, birth certificates and marriage records, many of which can be easily accessed on FamilySearch.org.

With today's technology, this can be done relatively quickly, and you will be surprised how rapidly you tie in to family lines that others have already completed.

Dead Ends

Don't Get Hung Up on Dead Ends

Discovering your family story can get frustrating if you spend too much time searching on dead ends that have no information.

Be careful not to get stuck on these dead ends. We can do temple work for anyone in our family who lived after 1500 A.D., which is at least 10 generations for most of us. That means you have 2047 grandparents to find.

If you get stuck, it may just mean that that person is not ready to accept the temple ordinances yet. When they are, you will be amazed at the information that will become available. But for now, simply move on and come back to it later.
